Speedie & Associates to perform Inspections and Testing for the new Diamondbacks/Rockies Spring Training Facility

Speedie & Associates has been selected by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community to perform Special Structural Inspections and Materials Testing for the new Spring Training Facility for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies. 

The $100 million multipurpose facility includes an 11,000-seat capacity ballpark, 12 practice fields and office buildings with Major and Minor League clubhouses, training facilities, and offices for each team. The facility, scheduled to open in spring 2011, is the first Major League spring training facility in the U.S. to be built on Indian land.

Speedie & Associates also provided Materials Testing and Geotechnical Investigations for the Goodyear Spring Training Facility, home to the Cactus League’s Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds. Other notable projects include the Surprise Center Recreation Campus & Spring Training Facility, Scottsdale Stadium Spring Training Facility Improvements, Phoenix Municipal Stadium Improvements, the ASU Packard Stadium Player’s Clubhouse, and the ASU indoor Football and Basketball Training Facilities.

Ground Penetrating Radar Specialist joins Speedie & Associates

Speedie & Associates is pleased to announce the addition of Jacob Stauffer to its Phoenix office.  Mr. Stauffer is a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) specialist providing non-destructive means to locate reinforcing steel, post tension cables, and conduit within masonry and concrete prior to drilling, cutting or coring, as well as providing data for structural analysis with the utilization of RADAN 6.5, 3-D post processing.  His expertise will help Speedie expand into the new and exciting field of GPR.

Mr. Stauffer currently holds certifications with GSSI - RADAN Data Processing and Utility Scans, ICC - as a Spray Applied Fireproofing inspector and AWCI – as an Exterior Insulating Finish Systems (EIFS) inspector.  Prior to working for Speedie, he worked for Inland Engineering & Consulting for five years primarily providing GPR services as well as EIFS inspection, fireproofing inspection, structural load testing and welding machine calibration.
